bullet Germany can look back on a long tradition in education, science and research:  Its oldest university, the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg, was founded in 1386.
bullet About 100 years ago half of all students studying abroad were in fact studying in Germany.
bullet Now Germany has more than 300 universities with more than one million students.
bullet About 250,000 foreigners are studying at German universities, making it the third most popular host country for international students after the USA and UK.
bullet To date, a total of 78 German researchers have received the Nobel Prize, thereof 28 in Chemistry, 24 in Physics and 15 in Medicine.
